Sorry guys, I don't like this new hunk of redneck junk. Maybe you'll think otherwise. But SVT should've kept the Lightning fans happy and pumped out a newer model Lightning IMO. I just don't think this will sell too well; it might actually hurt the already-slumping Ford vehicle sales.

actually to me, it's a pretty good looking truck, but the grill is hidious!(my 2 cents)

It doesn't look to bad as a whole! Not a fan of the new headlight design for all the F 150 series, that grille is blah, but does stick to what the original concept was for Fords F 150 if anyone knows there history on the SVT F series. The grandad for the original idea, and design back in the 90's was a Ford BAJA F 150! ;)

Hmm I didn't know that... I dunno, newer model Lightning would've been sick. Even the concept version years ago was the hotness. Oh well, they're still pumping out GT500's and that's good... although they're not technically "Cobras."

I think it would be a blast but honestly, out of the people that actually do go racing, who is going to buy that truck for that much money versus building their own and out of the people that do buy the truck, how often would they actually go out jumping hills. Its just not practical for the average joe or the enthusiast. Its a sexy truck but it wont see many sales besides the rich people that want a toy. Just my opinion.

That's true. It just won't appeal to the average, daily-driving Joe. Hopefully they'll only make this truck for a couple years and realize it's just a waste of time and money. Give us a freakin' Lightning. Dear Lawd it would be sick. Anyone remember the concept? With the supercooler that with the press of a button adds 50 horses?

I dont see why they thought it was a good idea to come out with a truck like this in the first place. The economy is horrible and sales are down.

I agree it doesn't appeal to the majority, probably why it originally came out as a Lightning two wheel drive pick up......when it was first introduced to the plublic for sale in the late 90's......for the city roads, and not for the hills, and trails.
Will be interesting to see how the public takes to it.

But truck sales are keeping Ford a float.
Not sure whats up with all the haters. The Raptor is sick.
Don't get my wrong, i wouldn't ever buy one. its not my thing, but its friggin' sweet for what it its. especially once the 400 hp 5.4L version hits.
I'm sure people feel the same way a bout a semi functional drag racing truck like the lightning. I know my wife thinks fast trucks are dumb. to each his own!

I think it pretty sick. Its no different than the new HD f150...all about taste. The F150 is the number one selling vehical. This is just going to help in the long run.

Hi, i am a previous lightning owner. They suck.
Suck on gas
Suck on towing
Suck on comfort
Suck when you need to put a 4wheeler in the back
Suck on wet grass
Suck on wet pavement
And god forbid you ever want to change the plugs. 3 to 6 hrs labor. I like the Raptor, but wouldnt buy one.

I have had 2 of them and have to disagree with about everything you just said except for they suck on wet grass. my last one sucked as far as pulluing anything heavy, but that was because of 5"-6" of lowering and QA1 adjustable drag shocks...

lol...3-6 hours to change plugs? I can have the blower off IC out, cleaned and plugs changed and running in about 2 hours..not sure what you were doing wrong.

ok lol, let me rephrase all of this. They suck on fuel economy. Mine got about 10 mpg on average. Yes, i drove it like it was intended to be driven. It sucked towing my Cobra to NMRA events as well. Worst trip was from Memphis to Bowling Green. Got in those hills and it drank gas like my ex wife drinks cough syrup. My Polaris wouldnt fit in the back. It had 28" tires and 1.75" wheel spacers. Grass we got covered. When it rained, the **** thing was all over the road. Even when babied, the *** end came loose constantly. Probably partly to blame are the rutted memphis roads. As for comfort, im 6'4. Going around town was ok. But with the seat all the way back, it wouldnt recline for crap. Almost like riding 90 degrees lol.
But hey, we all have opinions right? :D

Oh i didnt do anything wrong lol. It was the first time i'd removed a blower to start, then the dealer gave me the wrong plugs (short ones). Seemed like it took from like 8am til 4pm lol. But i think it was closer til 1 or so. John gotera swears he could have it done in 45 minutes. I called BS.

I was very pleased with both of mine, and as pulling a car and trailer it done as good if not better than any gas burner truck ive ever owned, but with the suspension on my 03, I wouldnt pull any thing more than my crotch rocket. But long as you make it whine yea gas mileage sucks, but hard as it is I got around 17mpg with my 03 and it ran consistant 11 sec 1/4 mile but I drive like a grandma to. My 99 I had before it also got about the same gas mileage as well. And I didnt have any complaints on the way they drove in the rain either except when I had 555R's on the 03 and they got about half work and I put it through a cotton field backwards one day lol
but I loved them, and not a day goes by I regret trading my 03 for the truck I have now and hope to get another Lightning in the near future.

Although I like the lightning(might be picking one up when I get back actually) I think the raptor is a better idea. It's a truck that acts like a truck. And the pricing I've seen isn't that bad either. Like it or not, hope it sells well, so SVT can turn something else out, like maybe a new lightning later on down the line.

SVT RAPTOR
My friend bought one of these a few months ago. These did not appeal to me until I went for a ride. WOW simply amazing ride. At 25-30 mph on dirt road full of pot holes you could not feel a thing. leaving the road and cutting through a ditch that would upset my truck had no effect on the raptor. truck is too nice inside to use it like it is meant to be used in my opinion. truck definitely has some cool features/options in the off road/4x4 area. traction control stability control hill descent, differential lock. and a host of computer/manual settings to control them all. cant wait to go to the sand bar and see what it will really do on some hills...

its actually a cool truck but just too expensive for the normal ford guy! the lightning should've been their priority though

As much as most of us would've liked to see the Lightning come back,Ford went back to it's original starting point which helped bring life to the Lightning first.
I use to be a huge Ford F series fanatic until my brother brought home a 5.0L GT,and he took me out for a little cruise to see the big deal on the stang was all about LOL,but that's another story as they would say,but anyways......I have a few old school F series Magazines from the late 80's to mid 90's,and one mag goes threw a brief history on the Lightning, and where the idea started, and it began with Fords BAJA series F 150.

I would buy and drive the hell out of the new Raptor! I think the truck is sweet! I probably wouldn't ever use it for what it was intended. But, it would be an icon thing.
