Hey everyone, just thought I would share a finding about the s197. Recently with the heavy rains I found that I have water pooling up on my passenger side floor under the carpet. Did a little research and what I found out is its a common problem with some of the seals and feed throughs leaking. Here is the link to one of Fords publication about it
http://www.stangnet.com/images/stories/docs/s197_TSBs/07-14-06.pdf. My understanding is the factory bumper to bumper 3yr 36k mile warenty will cover it, otherwise you do it yourself or pay close to $500 for the dealership to do it. I'll find out tomorow when I take my mine in. Anyways if yours is a daily driver like mine and sits out in the rain its worth looking into even if you haven't noticed any problems yet.

Good information. I've always suspected something like this with my cowl seal as it appears to be slightly warped where it doesn't sit as firm against the windshield as I feel it should. Keep us posted as to what they find and thanks for the heads up.

Weird,i know some SN95,and New Edges that do the same. For ours,it gets threw between the "A" pillar, and the passenger mirror area.

Yeah on my first 03, I was literally freakin out when I noticed my passenger carpet was wet after a rain. It's scary to say the least.

well, factory warranty covered it and of course the mechanics said they found nothing after letting it sit in a drizzle rain for a while then running water over it for a few minutes. If it only took that I would notice it every weekend that I wash the car, but I only saw it happen when we had the heavy rains and it sat outside all day. Wouldn't be bothered too much if I am able to vacuum it out everytime it happens, but I'm usually gone for extended periods of time with it sitting in the parking lot which sucks and others have noted electrical problems depending on where the leak is. Guess I'll just keep an eye on it for now.

Yeah, it sounds like bad news, but hopefully the mechanic found the root cause and took care of it. Something I was just thinking of too is how you may notice issues in hot weather or cold weather that you don't notice any other time of the year. For example, on my '97 Mustang I had a minor leak that only showed up when the weather was cold where seals and everything tends to contract/shrink. So if the weather was cold and rainy and then suddenly warm, it might fool you into thinking the problem went away.

I am going to do the same thing. You would think that Ford would put out a recall to fix em all. That is something that will ruin your carpet and start rusting your body. That is not good. I want my stang to last me forever! Love it!
