Returning with Praise
Read Luke 1:1 though 2:52
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told (Luke 2:20).
Today’s Scripture is often saved for Christmas. Songs, gifts, and parades transform cold weather into an atmosphere of joy and hope.
After Jesus was born in a manger angels appeared to shepherds who labored in their normal routine. The angel calmed the shepherds by telling news of a Savior’s birth.
How did shepherds respond to such news? They hurried to Bethlehem so they could see the Child. The angel’s promises were true. The shepherds were amazed. They gave praise to God and announced the news as they returned home.
Instead of saving this story until an event placed on the calendar, learning from the shepherds could be an ongoing lifestyle—leaving the routine to notice the Christ. Returning to work changed—living as men and women who praise God because of a moment with Christ.
Challenge for Today: Choose to take time from your hurried schedule to pause and notice Christ.
