Asking for a Gift
Read Luke 11:1–54
Carol and Allen weren’t sure what Phillip wanted. Recently Phillip had gotten into a lot of trouble. With graduation coming, his parents were worried about him. Phillip asked his parents to sit down for a talk. Feeling worried, Allen and Carol sat at the table fidgeting.
“I decided what I want for graduation.” Phillip announced. “I want a Bible. It is time for me to change.”
Phillip’s parents did not hesitate to give their son what he wanted. They were thrilled.
Do we realize how God is thrilled to bring good gifts to us? Let us never be told we have not because we ask not.
“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13).
Our Heavenly Father longs to provide. Set up a meeting with Him. He is waiting. Ask Him for a gift, realizing He yearns to supply what we need.
Challenge for Today: Refuse to let doubt stop you from voicing your requests to God.
