My mom has had breathing problems all her life. She has died on us twice but the hospital was able to revive her both times in time for there not to be brain damage. Thats not the case this time. She had started having breathing problems so she went to her breathing machine. It wasnt helping so she called 911 but she lives about 20 mins from the closest hospital and my dad wasnt home so by the time the ambulance got there they found her on the floor not breathing and with out a pulse. They were able to revive her but her brain was swollen and she was siezing and they have no idea how long she was without oxygen. That was 5 days ago. They had her sedated and on anti-siezure medicines to keep her stable. She stopped siezing so they took her off the sedatives and the siezure meds and was trying to wake her up but she is not responding. The doctor said that her pupils are fixed and dialated which means that there is no brain activity. The nurse said that it will take a miracle for her to wake up. She is not breathing on her own either. The doctor said that he was going to back the ventilator off little by little over the next couple of days and see if she starts breathing on her own and if she doesnt then we have to decide if we want to keep her on life support. Nobody in this family is stable enough to make that kind of decision. She is only 43 and hers and my dads 22 aniversary is the 28th of this month. There 1st grandchild is on the way and she is so excited. She is way to young to die. She is a very tough woman. She raised 2 boys and my dad isnt always a charm to be around but she always had a smile on her face. We are just asking as many people as possible to pray for her and the family.

I really hate to hear that. I will definitely be keeping you and the family in mind. I'm a ways away, but if there's anything at all I can do from up here just let me know and I'll be glad to do what I can. I unexpectedly lost my mother to cancer (was diagnosed then died a week later) when I was 12. I know it's rough, and I know there are a ton of questions. Just remember to keep your head up, stay close to friends and family, and try your best to remember all the good things you shared in life. I wish her the best.
