Words and Actions
Read John 14:1 through 16:33
How does a man declare his love for his wife? Is it merely in the words he speaks or the gold band he buys for her finger? Or is it also in the daily grind of faithfully laboring to support their family and in toiling through the tough times with her? Likewise, a parent expresses love for a child in countless acts of love and service. Words are vital, but actions prove the truth of those words.
“If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him” (John 14:23).
Many people profess love for Jesus, and even more call themselves Christians. However, do they prove those words with lives of service to the Lord? Do they study His Word to find out how He wants them to live? Do they sacrifice their time to spend it with Him and other believers and in helping others? If we truly love Jesus, we will want to do those things. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can. We must serve God with our words and our actions.
