Again, maybe not the best section for this, but seems appropriate. I'm gonna be installing new springs along with a spacer lift on the front of my 4runner. Everyone I've spoke to claims I'll need an alignment afterwards. I guess it depends on how bad it is off, but do any of you guys have a clue on how many miles it'd take to have negative effects (i.e. uneven wear on the tires)? I'm hoping I can install and make it a couple thousand miles before an alignment, but I don't wanna mess up good tires on the front either. Thanks!

It will all depend how badly its effected by your mods. if its not too far off than it would be safe to say it wouldnt effect anything in a few thousand miles. My yukon has been needing an alignment for about a year and since i procrastinate on my own stuff  i just dropped it off today because it started to cup the inside of the tires. There is a place out here called Desert Rat truck center and all they do is deal with 4x4's, give them a call and explain what your doing and see what they recommend. 505-881-0931. They are EXTREMELY knowledgable with that kind of stuff.

Everyone I've spoke with say's it'll be off, but not by how much. I found a local shop who will check my alignment for free. I'm sure they'll claim some other stuff is in need of attention just to get some money out of me, but I'm thinking about having them check it before/after. As of right now, that seems to be the best bet.

Tell them to give you a printout of what it measures, and include the factory recommended specs. I know that our shop charges for an alignment check, but we do a complete shakedown of the suspension to make sure you aren't wasting your money aligning something that is worn out.

Two questions: where are you located, and how much would it be for the check/shakedown check? I could make it down to Conway depending on what I'm looking at.

Shop's called Christian Brother's Automotive in Maumelle. Ask Grant ( hrspwr ) how much it would be, I don't know the pricing.
