Wanting to get a CAI and tune. I've read good things about Breenspeed but don't know anything about the tunes from American Muscle. Anybody know or heard anything about those tunes for the 05+?

I have been doing a lot of research on both. Both companies use the SCT tunes. Brenspeed can actually dyno tune your car with the SCT, because they have the software. Both companies are good. I am going with Brenspeed though. They keep your tune on file and any time you upgrade they will send you a new tune for free. That is what their site says. I am down with that.

I have been leaning on the Breenspeed side as well. Just wanting to see if anyone has used the AM tunes.

+1 on Brenspeed. They have great customer service, which can be very helpful if you do need something adjusted on your tune, although I don't have experience with AM's customer service to compare to.

american muscle has the same thing as well, they have amazing customer service as well, and their prices are almost unbeatable! i have no complaints from them so far!

Guys I dont have any knowledge of Brenspeed but if your serious about a COI and willing to spend the money for a tuner like SCT then you may as well check out JLT true cold air.
WEBSITE--> http://www.jlttruecoldair.com/ZenCart/index.php
PAGE FOR 2005+ GT--> http://jlttruecoldair.com/ZenCart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_51_43
They have the biggest badest intake ive every found. I can stick my leg in this thing. Now ive gone a little further and got some extra tunes from BAMA Chips tunes but that is not necessary(but an awesome upgrade). The JLT requires a tune. Its not an option like some of these other cold air intakes you just bolt on, and the price is pretty resonable as I remember. You can order it in a number of colors and its a pretty straight foward install. I sound like I sell them but I have had zero problems and the look is still unique.
The only thing I need to warn you about is that you may not be able to keep your foot out of it once you wake up the beat that you used to call your stang... : )- Lets put it this way, when I put the BAMA chips tune in, I had to upgrade the rear tires!

AM has awesome customer service! I've not purchased tunes from them, but have made several other purchases without an issue. I can't remember what happened, but I had an issue with one of the items, called in and received excellent help to resolve the issue.

Jack,
As far as I can tell, American Muscle has either SCT or Diablo. I have an SCT and it came with 3 tunes. They are pretty mild as tunes go. The diablo tuner, jeweler54 on here started out a while back with this one and it was a little more aggresive with its tunes. There are plenty of options for both but you will need the ecm code off of your computer (easy to get) the correct 05+ tuner. You can get other tunes from other places as mentioned but the ones on AM's website are just fine (since they are from SCT or Diablo) and I havent had any trouble. Hope this helps. PM me, or jeweler54, or bcrass if you have more questions. Im sure any of us will be glad to answer them if we can.

Thanks Stang man! That does answer some for me. I guess I was thinking that AM was making custom tunes. I guess they are just using the ones from SCT.

Amazon Tuning sponsors SVTPerformance. I know of several members who have their so called "mail order" tunes and most are spot on. They ask you to dyno the vehicle, send in the info, and they'll make whatever adjustments are needed to make sure you have the perfect tune. I've heard nothing but good things about them. Their prices aren't as good as AM, but their tunes rock (again, what I've read on SVTP, NOT personal experience).

Okay awesome! Noper, they are just tunes in a can! You can get different ones depending on your needs and the octane you want to use and such..

Brenspeed all the way! Dad's 07 has a Brenspeed tune, and it made a HUGE difference! They are great to deal with, and yeah, you pay a little more, but you get what you pay for!

Dadejack, you are going to get the best gains if you get your car dyno tuned (or so I have read and been told). Some people I have talked to don't like canned tunes. But, I don't have a lot of cash to throw around, so I am going with a Brenspeed CAI and Tune. Probably BBK CAI and a SCT Tuner, plus the ford racing twin 62mm throttle body. I think that would be a good start.

Thanks guys! Brenspeed was my plan but I know how easy AM is to get stuff.
I think I'll stick with the Brenspeed plan for that.

I have looked at Brenspeeds website. What is it you are planning on getting from them exactly? Just a tuner or CAI and tuner or what?
dadejack

CAI and tuner combo. I know they ask you what all the mods are so they can do for that.

Well I see that they have some JLT combos listed and the last time I looked JLT had the most HP gains over EVERYONE else such as K&N or C&L or whatever. Still a personal preference of course but I prefer lots of horsepower. Most of the CAI's out there dont require a tune. So really you could buy a tuner like SCT or diablo and not a CAI. There are options on the tuner to use the stock intake. Or you can buy a CAI and not a programmer/tuner and just bolt it on. But, like JLT there are a few CAI's that you absolutley HAVE to install a tune or you will run lean and set codes all day long. That is where you seperate the men from the boys.

When I bought my CAI and Tuner combo from Brenspeed I asked Brent what he recommended and he said the C&L CAI. He said the JLT, I believe, will give an extra HP or 2 at peak but the C&L was slightly better throughout the RPMs and driveability. But he also stated the differences were negligible either way. Both offered good gains and driveability.

Yeah there is just tons of info out there on them. Here is an article for you and sorry in advance, JLT produced more HP and torque than C&L. Although, they do mention a 5+- hp margin and who know what kind of silly little variable can take place in an instant. Plus I dont think they really go into all the custom tunes you can get.....

Man, thanks for the article. I am going to check out different tuners. JLT and C&L are both good. Now I am going to go with one of them.

Talked to the guys at Brenspeed yesterday. Awesome guys. They basically said that it doesn't really matter which CAI you get but if you have plans down the road for engine mods like cams, than to go ahead a get one of the CAI that has the larger air intakes like JLT. ( I think some of you have already said that.) He also gave me an order of mods that would make the most sense. From what I can remember from my notes they are :
1. CAI + tune
2. Exhaust
3. underdrive pulleys
4. Motion delete plates
5. gears
6. cams
I will be ordering a JLT + Tune just as soon as I save up the cash.

Can you supercharge your car with under drive pulleys? I was thinking on some also, but I do want to supercharge my car eventually and don't want to have to take them off.

I think so. The main purpose of an underdrive pulley is to slow down your belt driven accessories thus reducing parasitic drag. Also, some of the HP upgrade kits for superchargers is a smaller pulley for the supercharger. That increases boost so you have to be careful. And, as mentioned earlier you will have to make a visit to the local dyno shop. In other words, The underdrive pulleys will slow things down but you can buy a different pulley for the s.charger to compensate if need be..

If you are considering a supercharger, a lot of places would recommend you steer clear of underdrive pulleys. From lessened amperage output from the alternator (remember, fuel pumps are electrically driven, and if your fuel pump doesn't get enough power under boost, KABOOM!) to reduced belt wrap from tighter radius turns of the belt, underdrive pulleys can have some detrimental effects. But, if you really want them, just use underdrive water pump, alternator, and power steering pulleys if available, and leave the crank alone. That way you don't have to mess with different supercharger pulleys (removing the factory installed supercharger pulley will sometimes void their warranty).

I agree with Adam. I bought a set of underdrive pulleys from a guy who was putting on a supercharger.

If you want them and can find them go ahead and get them. I read on one of the forums that Steeda stopped producing the economy delete plates. It also looks like AM has discontinued them from your link. Maybe Emily could clarify either way. You could probably do the same thing with your stock plates and take the butterfly plates out. I'm sure there's a right up somewhere out there about it.

I believe AM uses Bama tunes, which I have heard good things about, never used or seen in use their tunes however, just read on different places about them.
As far as AM customer services goes, I think that they outdo everyone. Everytime I shop there they provide me with excellent customer service. Also, They let me return something that was like 3 months outside of return policy because I forgot about it. Thats awesome.

I have only dealt with AM and blow by racing, they have both been great and have zero problems. Plus my car is tuned by bama and runs awesome since i re updated with the latest software. Highly suggest both. Not sure how brenspeed is, haven't heard much bad but then again it's just hear say

I would say that AM would probably stand behind the Bama tunes through anything, not sure if you are worried about customer service or not. If so, I'm not sure how Breenspeed is but AM is amazing.
One of you guys with a tuner should come turn off my o2's for me, lol
