I wanted to get yalls opinion on this. Where is the line between modding the interior/ricing the interior? I was thinking about doing something different but didn't want to "rice" it. lol I know Saleen's and I think Roush's have painted door handle pieces and was thinking about doing that and maybe painting the plastic piece that goes around the vents and radio in front of the shifter. Was curious what you guy's thought about the subject?

I've seen it done on several cars. Some it works, so it doesn't. It all depends on how crazy you go with it IMO. A little can be good and give your car that extra little touch, but too much just flat out doesn't look right. I can't remember where I saw it, but I saw someone who had a silver Stang with black interior, had a couple pieces (i.e. door cups as you have shown) and the "Mustang" on the passenger side of the dash outlined in silver (sharpie) and it looked great. Paint it cheap, I say if you want to do it, try it. Nothing to loose, it's pretty easy to go over it with flat black later on.

IMO, I think that looks "ricey" when the colors are that different.

Me personally, I'm not a big fan of painting anything on the interior. I have seen some of the carbon fiber replacement pieces that look kinda cool. IMO, if your gonna mod the interior it needs to be in the form of gauges, shifters, seats, 5 point harness etc...just my 2 cents..

I go back/forth on this. I've been thinking a/b doing an accent color on the cup and getting matching upholstery on the material that is right behind the cup (together with the cup it makes an oval). Either paint the cup in gloss black and do black patent leather upholstery or do a textured black w/ suede behind it...
I'm not a fan of the cup colored by itself, it looks incomplete to me.
Here are some cool interior mods (from www.sn95forums.com):
white LEDs make the illumination blue:

Here's a peek at what your's could look like w/ silver paint:

MMMmmmm... fr500 steering wheel...

I can't find pix, but someone on sn95forums has painted the bezel around their stereo/hvac gloss black and it really makes the interior look classy.

I did mine a while ago in silver, it came out nice and looked really good, but i got sick of it really quick, when you're staring at bright colors right in your face all the time, it gets old pretty fast. I ended up spraying them back to flat black.

On my 97, It was white with black interior. So on the bezel around the gauge cluster I painted it white, the bezel around the radio that has the A/c vents built into it, I painted it all white except for the vents themselves, and then the pickets on the door that goes on top of the window switches, they were painted white. I think it looked great. I primed them, sprayed them, and cleared them. All the 10th anniversary cobras had Red painted accents on the interior.

I honestly like it. I think it is sharp. Just depends on how you do it.

I painted a few things flat black to accent the dark charcoal interior.Doesn't look to bad at all,it's nice, and subtle.

I can kinda go both ways on it. I am a big beliver in just a little goes a long way. I tend to like the more subtle interior mods.

Yep, I agree 100%. A little is good, but doesn't take much.

I painted my center radio/AC bezel thing in a silver color to match the exterior, I think the paint is for plastic car bumpers (like the base model Explorers F-150s etc) but anyways it looks really good and I painted my AC knobs and the vents on the dash as well. I'll try and get some pics tmrw before I run off to work.

Close to 34,000 miles.Hasn't seen summer daily use since 2004.So it's pretty easy to keep clean, and to cut down on the wear, and tear.

they coolest interior paint i ever saw on a S197 mustang was just a darker colored panels to accent the same color interior! like black accented with a darker black, silver> darker silver, and so on! it really is a clean look without looking ricey

does that make sense?

Thanks Str33tr.
I'm trying to keep it subtle, but yet personalized.
The cluster gauges will be next.Going to go with Speedhut gauges.I want my cluster to match my autometer ultra lite gauges silver background. And they have what i am looking for.

dunno if you could somehow dull these to a brushed finish, but I think they'd look great in your car, Low:
