My 4runner has a JBL sound system from the factory, including a 8" sub in the rear. The sub finally blew, so I spent the weekend replacing the sub and adding an amp to power it (stock sub/amp ran at 45 watts rms, pretty pathetic). I got a JL Audio 8w1v2 sub and J2 250.1 amp. Final result is a pretty clean sounding system. It won't be heard from blocks away, but a huge improvement over stock and exactly what I wanted. I'll spare you guys the details, but here are a few pics from the install.

Excellent job sir!! How do you like? I've always been a fan of JL's! They are the best IMO

I've still got a little tuning to do on the amp, it isn't quite where I want it. Overall, very pleased, and I think adjusting the amp will put the icing on the cake!

Thanks! This was my first install, didn't think I was ever going to get it finished, but finally did and it is all worthwhile. I had 2 10's in my old 97 4runner (I traded it for my 96 Cobra). I don't care about output, and I think this JL setup sounds better. Great stuff, very clean sound. My goal was to make it invisible, and I think I did that. When the seat is moved back, none of the amp is visible, even the wiring. No visible wires in the back, so there's no way tell there's a sub until it's cranked up. Main reason for this is because I've known several in the area who've had their vehicle broking into and car audio equipment stolen. I shouldn't have any worries.
