For me, right now I'am running a UPR O/R X pipe. I like the sound but probably prefer an O/R H. I actually think the H was a bit louder.

I have the MAC off road with "cough" cats "cough" welded in!!
I like the sound over the X cause it's deeper,and angrier sounding.The X is nice,but more raspy,i rpm"ish" sounding.

I believe its how much you spend on the x pipe, my bassani freakin rocks. the stainless steel is an advantage also. x pipe needs baffled mufflers and h needs free flow mufflers, those are my thoughts....

Well I have MAC Longtubes, O/R H-pipe, and a stock GT Catback. The stock catback doesn't sound too great right now, but I gotta get my flowmasters (that I took off from my sixer's pipes before installing all this) welded back on. The chambered flows will tone out that O/R hiss coming from the factory muffs. Sounds pretty good for a sixer even now though.

Forgot all about this thread because of all the excitement of my twins being born early LOL!
Anyways.I remembered i had an old vid of me,and a buddy in the burnout box at the strip.
This was a few years ago when i just had the VT stage II n/a cams(now Cushman cams),and comp cams valve springs installed, along with my Mac h pipe, and Flowmaster 40's.You can hear me at the start in the back ground, the deep throaty sounding one.

Very nice choice! I hear good things about that set up! I run flows myself, I think I'll probably stick with them, but may change back to a o/r H eventually.

I'm running Flowmasters with a MAC O/R H pipe, no cats (although I need to get some welded in, some of those cough cats). Only video I have is me making a pass at Centerville, and to me it actually sounds different in person. I love the sound, loud but not too loud. Please excuse the crappy run, this was my first night ever on the track, should be running 11.4's (plus I'm using street tires).

What differences do you feel/ hear between an o/r h and an o/r x. Are your flows the super 40 series or just the 2 chamber 40 series. I've been seriously considering getting bbk lt's, o/r x and flowmaster catback with the super 40 series.

Mine are the just the 2 chamber. As far the difference of the o/r x-h,, the h was more of a muscular mean sound. the x is more of a raspy race sound. I like both,,but i think i kind of prefer the h myself but I'am happy with the x. Probably if i had the super 40's might be the perfect pitch,,(for me anyways)

Hmm, where'd you order your catback from, or did you get that custom from a local shop. Don't believe i've seen any cat backs for sale with the orignal 2 chamber 40's online. i had them on my 69 but that was done at an exhaust shop. I've considered getting an H pipe but i know the x pipe is supposed to supply a little more power.

Well actually I'am not sure exactly which muffler it is to be honest. They were on the car when i got it, by looking at them they are a little older so i didn't figure they were the super 40's. Then i bought the mac o/r H shortly after i got the car. Here is a video of that set up that i made a while back. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/c6ed ... 628f88.htm (http://videos.streetfire.net/video/c6ede333-28eb-49ba-8050-9a0101628f88.htm) you might turn the volume down a bit, the squelling is loud! As far as power goes, I really cant tell much difference between the two.

I have the mac pro chamber for shorties but it looks like there is a connection point right in front of the chamber. Does anyone know if i will have to get a new pro chamber if i get mac lt?

ya the mid pipes are usually made specifically for either longtubes or shorty headers, but not both. So you'll more than likely have to get those shortened by a shop or order a new mid pipe, unless mac made their midpipes to break apart to accomodate lt's and shorties but that would be something new for me.

For the 4.6L's, I like (in order), the Prochamber, OR H-Pipe, and then the OR X-Pipe.
For the 5.0L's, I like (in order), the OR H-Pipe, Prochamber, and then the OR X-Pipe.

X pipe generate more power, they flow more smoothly into the joint section where both pipes met in the middle. In my opinion you can't beat an X pipe with magnaflows. Im a big magnaflow person now that i finally baught some, i have a MAC H pipe on mine and i want to get rid of it, im wanting an X pipe so if anybody wants an H pipe just let me know.

i like x-pipes but each mid pipe will have a different tone. i had a tru-x on my car with my packs, but i didnt really care for the way it sounded. it sounded good on other cars we put it on, but just not great with the packs. i still have it in my attic for now, i dont know if i want to get rid of it.
