412hp and 390 ft/lbs my butt! I love underrated power figures on mustangs.

If this doesn't bring down the price of the terminators, I dunno what will.
Can't wait to see how it responds to mods.

Can't wait to see how it responds to mods.
the thread that I took that from turned into a big fight a/b this very question.
Some were saying that Ford had "maxed it out" and didn't leave much on the table, b/c they had to beat the LS motors. It's already got great heads, and tubular headers/manifolds.
That's a good thing for those that want to leave it stock, but for hot rodders looking to defend the blue oval stoplight to stoplight it can be a bad thing. Especially since the LS motors respond so well to (relatively) cheap mods. 1cam is a lot cheaper than 4cams. OF course these cars have variable valve timing (fighting the urge to call it Vtek) and the hope is that our tuning infrastructure will soon open these up and make good gains.

There's also provision for Direct injection. These have great bottom ends, except for the cast aluminum pistons :(. Apart from these pistons, seems like they're ready to be the next termi!

edmunds also dyno'd the 2010 gt500 at 510rwhp. It makes more like 450rwhp so i'm expecting closer to 350rwhp out of the coyote. only time will tell.

I think ford is pushing, that's pretty obvious. It won't be as mod friendly as the terminators, but I think after everything is said and done 400rwhp should come on like butter. I don't see these numbers being this high on a production vehicle. 375 would be great, and if for some reason they are almost 400 from the factory I'd be amazed. Just getting rid of the factory EPA stangled intake, exhaust, and tune should free up a decent amount of ponies.

I'll be happy with my 2010! It's an upgrade from what I'm driving, although the 11's do have a lot of potential as soon as mods become available.

Supposedly this was a production stang, although I don't know a/b Edmunds dyno methods -Steele says they generally dyno on the high side. Different dynos show different#s... maybe they always use an optimistic one.

In my mind, I'm still not a fan of the new look of the 2010+. So for ne I think down the road it will be cool to find a donor car that has been wrecked and do a motor swap into my car or something older. I got a buddy back in GA that has built many mustangs and has owned them all, and he is considering pulling his turbo built coupe apart and install one of these motors once one becomes available. That would be sick!!

I have seen a few others get dynoed by a couple places and the lowest I have come across so far is 387rwhp. I happen to know of one that was dynoed on a engine dyno that made 460hp but this was without accessories. That would put it at about 430 crank Hp which seems in line with the RWHP dyno numbers I have seen. I don't think they will respond to the normal cold air, exhaust, etc. mods as well as we would like but some other mods should show great gains. I would think that a computer tune will do well and I know the factory cams are only a 210 duration @ .050 with low lift so we should see some solid gains with cams. People are guessing around 50hp with cams possibly. The heads design are not likely to be improved on much but maybe someone will step up with a CNC port package for the stockers. I would expect to see gears be and excelent upgrade as these motors are scremers. Some 4.30's should do wonders.

On a side note, due to the variable valve timing on all 4 cams and current tuners experiance out there with limiting the phasors on 3V motors some savy tuners should be able to play with the phasing to get a cam lope sound out of just the factory camshafts.

yea i agree. i love my 2010 and i don't really understand why ur saying poor 2010 that would be like us saying poor 2005-2009 because the 2010 have more power then those to. i am a little upset that they do have more power but i'm sure once they actually come out the numbers won't be the same. and if they r then it just means they won't take well to upgrades. the 2010 put out a lot more power once u get rid of the restrictive intake and exhaust. so i don't think poor 2010 i'm just glad Fords putting something out that can whip the camaro's ***! haha

The name of the thread is just me: If I'd paid for a brand new stang in the new bodystyle and then Ford came along w/ a brand new super motor in the very next model yr I'd be kinda sour. If you're not them I'm glad for you! I'm not trying to make you unhappy.
i am a little upset that they do have more power but i'm sure once they actually come out the numbers won't be the same. and if they r then it just means they won't take well to upgrades. RE: "once they actually come out the numbers won't be the same." ummm... this is a dyno test of a production model stang.
RE: "they won't take well to upgrades." That's kinda what has already been addressed: Cam tuning should produce good returns, and w/ the fantastic new heads and forged rods/crank, the '11s are just a piston swap away from being ready for big boost. And that's all b4 anyone does anything w/ direct injection.
the 2010 put out a lot more power once u get rid of the restrictive intake and exhaust. so i don't think poor 2010 i'm just glad Fords putting something out that can whip the camaro's ***! haha Definitely agree w/ you here! (HATE TO ADMIT THIS: I think the new camaros are better looking -I hate runningboard-style sideskirts, dunno why Ford insists on putting these on mustangs!)

I have to disagree with you....respectfully of course.

but i'm sure once they actually come out the numbers won't be the same. and if they r then it just means they won't take well to upgrades.

This is speculation on both ends. It's way too soon to tell if they will respond to upgrades or if the numbers will be the same. I'm sure we'll find out very soon once more get out and parts become more available but it is possible it has the same numbers and responds well to upgrades, similar to what Hammerhead2 stated, as well as just the opposite.

the 2010 put out a lot more power once u get rid of the restrictive intake and exhaust.

Besides the upgraded tune and intake, and some minor differences, what else was improved on the 2010 4.6? Stock HP was only a 15 HP increase due to the tune and intake, which is not a lot more power. I would argue once you got rid of the restrictive intake and exhaust on a 05-09 they would respond equally as well, if not more over stock, and have as much power as a 2010 with the same aftermarket parts.

i'm just glad Fords putting something out that can whip the camaro's ***! haha

Couldn't agree with you more.

it seems like ford is putting out numbers that are underrated like they did with the terminators, but i wouldn't complain! i don't mind a surprise by seeing the dyno numbers be higher than what is claimed! those numbers put out by the 6er makes my day cause ford is finally giving the gt's little brother some power to play with straight from the factor... and 31 mpg, can't beat that either.

now i've read that the 2011 gt will run the 1/4 in i think 12.7 and from another source 13.2ish. which seems more realistic, the 12.7 or the low 13? either way, its gona beat the camaro! haha

i wonder also what the v6 runs it in?

I have seen a test where the GT ran a 12.8 @ 110.8 mph the V6 ran a 13.7 @ 102 mph. With that MPH on the GT it could go a little quicker with a better 60' time.

Yep I love the color, didn't think I would until I saw it. The trans shifts so easy you almost don't realize your driving a standard, like some of the new features also, really like when you get out and go to the passanger side and door isn't locked, then you have to walk around or have the key to open...LOL

That was at Prescott....And have only made four pass's in the car, it has about 700 miles on it... In the EFI Class...Next year they will have a EFI class again and it will be a Modified and Stock class, Modified can run Drag Radial, Stock is on street tires. Everyone that is interested needs to participate so they will keep the class alive...
