Has anyone tried the BBK throttle body (1763) on a 05-09 Stang? Overall, the reviews on different forums are totally mixed. Some people say they are great where others seem to think they are basically worthless. Also, there are a lot of complaints of install problems but these seem to be tied into people not clocking the spring correctly or checking the TPS voltage before trying to fire them up.
The TPS voltage problems seem to be tied to the fact that most of the sites that sell the BBK TB post install instructions that do not include the section of BBK's installation instructions which cover checking the stock TB's voltage and then adjusting the TPS voltage on the BBK TB to match that of the stock TB...
Anyway, I have a chance to get a deal and a half on the BBK TB at the moment so any opinions are much appreciated.

I would buy it if you get a great deal on it. I was thinking the BBK also. But, I am going with the Ford Racing Throttle body.

How much are you going to have to pay for the FRPP TB? Last time I looked at those, I think the price scared me off....isn't that one like $575? That one is dual 62mm just like the BBK isn't it?

Yes it is. But, it is polished and you have to tune your car after you install it. So, I figured if it needs a tune, you get better gains than one you can just throw on your car. I am not an expert. Just my guess. I am going for show and go. LOL

LOL - you could polish the BBK TB for much less than that price difference. Also, FRPP says everything requires a retune. They are both dual 62mm - I doubt there is much of a performance difference, if any, between the two on a normally aspirated Stang. If you want to sink that kind of money into a throttle body take a look at the Whipple single-bladed throttle body.
I agree that the Ford Racing TB looks great but I would not base performance estimates on what Ford claims or the price of it. If you look at the FRPP shifter for the 05-09 stangs they are designed by Hurst - the part they do not mention is you can get the same Hurst shifter without the FFRP logo for at least $100 less (the FRPP/Hurst shifter is $275, the same model Hurst can be found new for $175 or you can upgrade to the short-throw Hurst billet shifter which is only around $210 and still save money compared to the FRPP part).
With the shifter or the throttle body, you are paying a premium for having Ford stamped on the part. To put that into perspective, with a bit of net shopping you could get the BBK TB and a nice set of underdrive pulleys for your stang and still have about $100 in your pocket for other goodies.

LOL, you have definitely done your research. You have way to much time on your hands. J/K.
Yeah, I am still teetering on the exact throttle body I want. But, I do like the Ford stamp and the polished look. No under drive pulleys for me though. I want a Saleen Series VI Super Shaker. You've got me thinking about a different throttle body now. Hey are you going to Branson, MO with all of us?

If you are thinking about a throttle body AND a supercharger, make sure the blower you want doesn't come with a throttle body or can use an aftermarket one. On a naturally aspirated motor the stock TB doesn't become a restriction until something like 400hp. For no money you could paint or polish the stock TB and not have any tuning issues. Your money would be better spent on headers, cams, or something along those lines.

Those are all very valid points. While I might go for a KB supercharger at some point that project is sometime away and I am having too much fun trying to squeeze performance out of it while NA for the time being. I think part of the reason I find the BBK TB tempting is there are such varied reviews...I'm curious as to whether I can make it work and get any performance out of it. I can get a really good deal on one at the moment so that just makes it more tempting.
Also, I am looking at adding the C&L Performance Intake and the dual 62mm TB does seem to have a performance bonus when paired with that intake.
btw, when is the Branson trip? I missed that some how.

I think everyone is getting together on Friday the 23rd of April and convoying up there. I am going up on the 22nd with the wife and kid to have a day to go to Silver Dollar city and so on.

I will have to check my schedule and see if I can make it. Unfortunately, work pretty much dominates my life this time of year.
