Anyone know of a shop near Jonesboro that will do a good job on a gear swap? I decided to swap out the stock '08 GT gears for 4.10s but the quote I just got almost floored me. I could likely drive to LR or Memphis to have it done, stay in a hotel overnight if needed and still save money..yeah - it was really that bad.

everyone around the little rock area including cabot wanted 350-600 to just install my gears even with me having 100% parts needed for the swap, i bought the FRPP gears, motive gear install kit and royal purple fluid and they still wanted that much, however i found a guy in Jacksonville, his name is Ronnie over at Superior Trans off redman rd, He set mine up for 250 and had it back to me in a few hours, with zero problems, he is big into racing and so he set it up to withstand hard lauches and lots of track time. Im very happy with his work, just figured i would throw that out there

That ain't bad at all - place I checked earlier wanted almost $1200 total for parts and labor (over $500 for the FRPP gears that cost $170 at AM and over $600 for labor). I may have to take a day off and make a road trip.

btw, how do you like the 4.10s? I definitely don't want to revive the age-old 3.73 vs. 4.10 debate but I had to ask...

I love the 4.10s. If your going to do it then why not go with the 4.10s. The 3.73s are only a step above stock. Not a huge difference for the money you will spend. I have heard some guys really liking the 3.90s which would be perfect if you are torn between the two.

Order your gears from buyfordracing.com and the install kit from AM for the best deal. That's what I did. I think I have a total of around 500 in gears and install

thanks - I will check with them as well. You're in JB? Your 'Stang should be easy enough to spot with the Elanor hood and the

Actually (and unfortunately), the jump to 3.73 would be a double bump for me and 4.10s would be a triple jump. In '05 and '06 the stock Stang gears were 3.55. In '07 Ford changed the stock gear ratio to 3.31 for the manual GT with 3.55 being optional. Mine is an '08 -- I crawled under it and double checked the sticker on the rear end -- stinkin' 3.31s (I can do ~44mph in first gear before I hit 6000rpm)...so either 3.73 or 4.10s would likely make me feel like my eyes were melting into my brain on takeoff. lol

Aren't the only 3.90s that are readily available made by Motive? Seems like I read somewhere that the Motive 3.90s whine like crazy.

In any event, as soon as I can make time for it, I think I will take your path and go with 4.10s. Like you said, based on the $$$ involved, might as well make a big jump.

EDIT: Thanks for the tip on buyfordracing.com - I somehow missed that site in my previous search for gears (and other goodies).

EDIT EDIT (lol - it is either getting late or I got up too early) - scratch that on Motive being the only one that makes readily available 3.90s -- found the ones from Richmond Performance - had no idea they made 3.90s.
