so im looking at getting a set of 18s for the car however everything i want is either out of stock, or they dont make in my offset, seems these days everyone wants black or chrome, no one wants silver or white anymore!!!!

so i have knocked it down to three choices, pretty much because these are the only ones in stock and this is the company i want to deal with, no offense to AM but their vendor of wheels make the s197s all weird and whatnot

so here they are

chrome fr500s

chrome saleen

Anthrasite bullitt

all sets will be 05+ offset, 18x9 and 18x10 wheels, i really want the all 3 so its a tough choice, fr500 i want in silver, the saleens i wish i could get in white, and the bullitts im happy with just the way they are but feel everyone has them, i want to place my order in the next day or so, just not sure

Honestly, I'd keep what you have. They look good,,aggressive,,and no ones else really has them. If you must buy new ones though,,i like the 1st and 2nd option. : ) Also,,just to give you a heads up I know you mentioned not going with AM but we do get a 5-10% club discount through them. Just throwing that out there. You're car will look good reguardless though!

I think the anthracite would look great with your body color, but like you said, everyone's got them. Have you considered maybe a hypercoated Saleen? Either the chrome FR500's or Saleens would look good, I'd really have to debate on those a while before deciding, tough choice.

problem is they dont make the hyper coated for my offset, the s197s req a higher offset and these days the only ones in demand are black, chrome or black chrome, i would love the saleens in good ole silver or white just to be different but that would req me to buy them, then have them powercoated at another 60-80 a wheel, and black would be sweet however everyone is out of stock on them for at least 4-6 weeks.

i think i will be holding onto the racestars cause i love the look, however i sold my stock wheels to a buddy who was in a bind so i need something for winter use and road trips. i plan on taking the car to GA within the next month or so and im not looking forward to doing in on DR.

AM sells sr wheels and their offsets look weird, the bullitts are deep dish on the front and rear, where as the zr wheels that im looking at will have the look i like where the rears are the only thing that are deep dish, only wheel i would get from AM would be the saleen since there is no lip to worry about. and i dont like the sr center cap but that would be changed out as soon as i get them anyways

im really leaning towards the fr500s

pull off the wheel and measure for yourself. Offset difference b/t the s197s and earlier stangs is like 1" or less, which is really not that big of a difference. Sometimes you can get away w/ more offset than they'd lead you to believe, b/c they try to play it safe so that any idiot can do it right.

I like the chrome FR500's. A friend of mine put black fr500's on his 06 gt and it looks killer. I love the way the FR500's look on those cars

You could always go with something completely different, like mrr wheels. If i get a s197 that's what im planning on going with!

The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards just finding a decent set of polished oem bullitts and keeping the racestars on the car during the summer time. I keep hearing horror stories on the other forums about the quality of these wheels. So I'm going to hold off on wheels and keep buying performance parts. Haha

Sounds like a plan! Looks great as is, nice "muscle" look. The wheels listed in this thread would look good as well, just depends if you're worried about show or go. IMO you've got the show, so time to work on the go!!!

The more I see lowered stands on stock polished bullitts. The more I like them, so for a set of winter wheels/road trip wheels I don't need to spend the money on what I had listed. I'll be happy with go fast parts!!!

Ended up ordering my wheels today. Went with the 18x9 saleen racecraft wheels. They are .5 wider then oem polished bullitts and sit 10mm closer to the fenderlips. I also ordered from tirerack bfgoodrich kdw2 255/45 up front and 285/40 on the rear. Pretty excited to be changing the look up on the ride. Figured since I never have time to race it might as well make it look good. I'll post pics as the items arrive

Sounds like someone did their own measuring! Offsets and backspacing aren't that difficult to understand and measuring your own stuff can get you the best fitment instead of just going w/ whatever the "tire guys" tell you will fit.

Quarter--- I tried getting you to pick them up, haha. Sold them to plumboosted on this site. Basically gave them away but it's all good cause I got a great deal on the race crafts

and yeah, when I had my last car I learned offset and how it works and since then I have always tried to get the best look possible. Nothing worst then buying wheels that dont fit right.

Tires came in, still waiting on wheels, plus the trunk is getting painted right now, I get to pick it up today so I'll have that mounted and on the car tomorrow. Longtube headers still need to be installed and the frpp intake has been pushed back til the 30th now so I'm thinking of just cancelling my order and just clean my car up for looks, thinking more everyday of picking up another foxbody to build

That's what I was going to recommend. They are a dime a dozen and I even have an extra set, not selling them, because I REALLY do love the OEM wheels. If I could find wheels that looked like them and take larger brakes I'd do it and 20" does nothing for me, but to each his/her own! Check on ebay.

I was running 275/50 on the rear. However if you ever log onto s197forum.con you'll see guys running 295/55 and even 325/50s I wanted to run the 295 and step my gear up to 4.30s but with a kid o the way and this being my dd I'm happy with the setup

I went ahead and ordered the 295/55's for it. Where would you suggest getting the fronts from?

weeloGT

Well usually I would run 165r15 on my older fox bodies, but they only measure 25" tall and look really small in a s197 wheelwell. I had 26x6.00 m/t sportman radials up front that I ordered from summit. They are quite pricey when compared to the 165s. I think I spent around 170 a piece. But it looks far better. If you don't mind the smaller look then firestone would be a decent place to pick up a par or 165 80 15s
