Do You Really Desire God?
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
Isaiah 55:6
Many Christians say that they long for a closer walk with God and that they desire to hear from Him. Yet each time they need answers or they have a problem they turn to friends, relatives, therapists or talk show hosts before they seek God.
Sometimes God does not even appear on the list. Yet the answers to their problems can be found at the throne of God.
Do you really desire God? Do you seek him daily? Do you commune with Him often? Do you meditate on His Word? Do you listen when He speaks?
The proof of desire is in the pursuit!
Luke 15:8-10 tells of a woman who lost a coin. She diligently searched for it—she had an earnest desire to find it. When she did find it, she called her neighbors to rejoice with her. She delighted in finding her lost coin.
As Christians we should have this same desire for the Lord. We should seek Him daily, continually, diligently...and as we do we should delight in Him, sharing our joy with friends and family—then God will give us the desires of our hearts (Psalms 37:4).
