Wait for the Promise
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:31
The first Pentecost took place almost 2,000 years ago after Jesus had ascended into heaven. Many of his followers returned home, dejected, but more than one hundred of them did not.
They gathered together to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father.
Like the disciples, don’t lose heart, because Pentecost is exactly what you need in your life right now. When the promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit, came down in the form of a mighty rushing wind and tongues of fire, He changed a fearful group of believers into intrepid disciples of the Lord who changed the world with the good news of Christ.
God has promised that same power to you. He wants to fill you with His Spirit in order that you might fulfill His purpose for your life.
Like the disciples, you need to wait for the Promise. Hunger and thirst for it. Wait upon Him, and you will taste and see the goodness of God in your life.
