Hunger for Pentecost
I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.
Luke 24:49
Throughout history, there have been men and women who have hungered after the manifest presence of God in their lives. Smith Wigglesworth was such a man.
Wigglesworth understood Pentecost as few men have. He said, “If you only knew the unspeakably wonderful blessing of being filled with the Third Person of the Trinity, you would set aside everything to tarry for this infilling.”
He took literally the apostle Paul’s advice to the Ephesians to be constantly filled with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:18 says, “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.”
This infilling enabled Wigglesworth to be used powerfully by God to bring about years of revival. Each day was Pentecost for him—God’s Holy Spirit coming down to empower him.
Let the Holy Spirit empower you. God did not send the Holy Spirit exclusively for one man or only for Jesus’ disciples. He was sent for every believer who thirsts and hungers for the presence of God to be manifested.
