hey guys, need your help I've got a '89 LX 306 w/ explorer intake, c&l 73mm mass air meter, 24lb injectors, x cam, cold air intake pipe and electric fan set up w/ 180 degree stat installed. My problem is I can start it up cold no problem, but after I drive it the temperatures up and I shut it off it barely turns over and won't start until it sits for a while.....Any ideas.............thanks outlaw

Welcome to the forums! I'm not sure what would be causing your issues, but I'm sure someone will drop in shortly with some input.

You have headers? Sounds like your starter is overheating.

I was going to say starter also I had this issue with one of my foxbodies. My starter was a bit old and after driving around it would heat up and cause the bendix inside to not work like it should. I was able to remove it and simply clean it out with contact cleaner and reinstall. In worst cause you'll just need to replace it all together. But lucky for me that wasn't the case. The old huge 20lb chevy starters are known for this prob if oil or something leaks inside.

Thanks guys, I'll check the starter out this weekend. The previous owner stated that it has been on the car for some time.

Great man, well keep us posted on it! Also, post a thread in the news/intro section and tell us a little bit about yourself and your Stang. Post some pictures up as well if you can. We love some pics here : )

Hello fellow stangers, you guys were dead on with the starter issue, took it off and had it rebuilt....guy at the alternator shop stated it was a heavy duty starter..$$$ for a new one, but he gave me a great deal on a rebuild. anyone know of any good drag tracks around want to see what I spent my money on
Thanks guys.
