View Full Version : Which exhaust do I get the most horsepower with my 04 GT?
I have a 2004 gt and i have a lot of questions about the exhaust. Which way to run it (side or rear exit), which brand and what kind of tips. If anybody has some good ideas post 'em.

well it's really all preference. For me though, I'am all about an offroad X pipe and chambered mufflers, but that's how i roll :)

as far as just a cat back alone, you will not see any power gains really. if you want the most, you want to do full exhaust from headers back with and H or X pipe with high flow cats or none at all. exits are personal preference, to me side exits are more agressive looking but neither is better than the other on hp. Bassani and Magnaflow sound reaaly good on the Ford mod motors, loud but good. I may even make you a deal on a complete Magnaflow catback... ;-)

If you do headers, dont put shorty headers on it. They made no diffrence on mine. Go with with long tubes, for the price you can't beat BBK's. Then go with a off/road X pipe. Im a BIG fan of magnaflow and bassani.

magnaflow, bassani, or borla for strait thru design. mac for a chmbered muffler. a mid pipe will give better gains than just a cat back, but its personal preference on what you do first. i was looking inot a jba cat back just to try it.

if I can sell my magnaflow cat back, im just gonna have a muffler shop run me 3" all the way out with Borla mufflers.

I put shorty headers on my 99 GT and I could tell a big difference. It opened it up a lot. They were just the cheap ford racing headers out of the summit catalog. Thats probably what is going to make its way onto the Saleen in due time. As far as the cat back and mid pipe? I'm all about the old school Flowmasters and catless H pipe.

exhaust is all preference, I have a mac o/r h-pipe on my 04 GT, and a pair of Spintech Mufflers, now with 2.5 inch tips through 3.5 inch chrome tips and to me they sound great
