today i found out that my tie rod ends are loose from a previous accident i had this year ( due to my 'great' driving skills that day) and can't get a tire alignment done til they are replaced. i did some research and there is an inner and outer tie rod end. the inner i get, but the thing that is confusing me is the outer. i looked around and the bumpsteer kits basicaly replace the outer rod.
my question is, should i go ahead and get the bumpsteer kit since my stang is already lowered and have the car's suspension geometry proper or just be cheapy and get new oem outer tie rods? or am i missing/crossing my info on this stuff?

What's the $$ diff b/t the oem stuff and a b/s (bump steer, not bull stuff) kit?

it's about a hundred dollar difference. on late model resto. for two its roughly 80 bucks and the bump steer on american muscle is 160.

What the heck is a bump steer kit? I had a defective front outter rod on my '97; the dealer replaced it. Cheap part. At 12yrs old, the inner rod needed to be replaced because it was making a rubbery grinding sound whenever I turned the steering wheel in the heat of the summer. I had shocks and struts replaced prior to that, thinking that was causing the problem. Long story short, it was the front inner tire rod. I'm rambling here, but I'm interested in what a bump steer kit is.

the bump steer kit is basically an outer tie rod that is more user friendly with lowered mustangs and helps eliminate bump steer that a normal outer tie rod would not handle well.
here's a link to one on american muscle if you want to see pics,etc...

You needs to find out if the inners or outers are bad. The inners are inside of the boots on each end of the rack and pinion and the outters are on the spindle. If you need help let me know.

haha i probably will travis, but i won't really know for a while since the next two weeks are slammed for me. the guy at midus told me while my car was on the lift that he could pull and push the rim back and forth. idk exactly what that was getting at but figured i'd pass along what the guy said to see if he was just screwing with me.
