Look like it is coming along Garrett. What block did you decide to go with, thought thought you already had a motor?

ive decided to run a 3.73 gear. i had a stock block that i was going to run in the car but decided to go with an aftermarket one. some little company my builder found makes a stronger 331 based block to hold up to 700hp which should be enough i hope. if i can get the money saved up i should have it running by mid march if nothing comes up. im just hoping now that when it does get running ithe transmission is gona hold up. sorry it takes so long for me to reply but im currently working on a pipeline in forrest city so im not around my computer ver much.

If you haven't got your rotating assembly yet you should check them out at Keith Craft in Arkadelphia. I bought my 331 eagle rotating assembly from them for a super sweet deal, they also did my machine work on the block. Not to long ago they had some good deals on Dart blocks.

no sorry no updated pics yet i almost have everything paid off about 1 more week my builder found what they call a mexican block which is stronger than a normal 302 and he has orderd stronger forged internals to go with it. he is hoping to have the motor, turbo system hooked up and the transmission in and running in 2 or 3 weeks then he is going to start on the rearend and tunning after so hopefully in a month and a half shell be ready. im going to work in LA for a few months so i wont be able to post often but will post asap.

i finally got my block in and it has been sent to the machine shop to be cleaned up. im probably still going with a 331 possibly a 339 just depending on whats better for the internals. i havnt got word in on my internals but they should be in soon after we decide wat to do with the block. ive been reading up on these mexican blocks and it seems that you usually have to try and break these things so we will have to see how durable it really is.

I would suggest using a lifter valley girdle or 4 bolt main caps for the turbo 331. It should be a screamer when you get done.

NICE!! I'll have to check this out when you get it done. I've never seen a turbo fox in person.

i believe the mexican block has some thick main caps. this block is supposed to be built almost to specs with a sportmans block. he compared the thickness of a regular 302 to a pbj and the mexican block to a triple pbj sandwhich. so i hope it will be fine.

If you get a chance man you really need to get some diffrent heads. Those are gt40's right?? If so you need to get a bigger head so that it will have more space. It's not about having them really smooth like a N/A motor, the turbo will force air. But if you have more room for more air to flow down them it will run ALOT better. It might take you 20psi on those heads to make it run like it would on 12 or 13psi with a good set of heads. So you could imagine what it would run like at 20psi...

a couple more pics i couldnt get the things to get any smaller. thats a mexican block i dont know if you can tell the difference beetween a stock 302 and those. i think my heads will do fine they are ported very well with upgraded vaulves and everything done to them. but eventually im probably going to put renegade heads on it.

I noticed that the bottom of the cylinders are not notched for the stroker. Make sure the rods clear the cylinders.

Be careful with that wideband your using. Ive had alot of friends use them and them not be accurate. Just a warning.

A valley girdle is not going to do anything. After all, your lower intake is your valley girdle. ;)
IIRC, a Mexican block has different coolant port locations, where the cylinder heads + headgasket + deck meet. You may want to look into that.
Does it say, "HECHO EN MEXICO"? in the lifter valley area?
Keith Craft does some nice work.

i didnt really look at the block that much but i know they used them to replace warranty work on regular 302 blocks so i think the heads will fit fine. thanks for the advice on the air to fuel guage i am going to go with a diff one.

hey garret just dont do like i did on the svo and blow a hole in the intake from to much boost.
91fox331
05-13-2009, 12:54 PM
ya thats a pretty massive turbo. it dwarfs mine but i wanna make only about 600 rwhp not 800. but that is pretty awesome. i dont plan on running 30 psi on my car justin just about 15. a v8 dosnt have to boost the crap out of their car to put down good numbers....lol. hey by the way does wes have a dyno?
1985svo
05-13-2009, 08:29 PM
yea we got a dyno its 75 a hour. you might talk wes in to tuning that thing on the dyno and we will get that old bird running strong just like brads ta. when you get it done i think me and wes are goin to come down and play a little one weekend. little roll patrol action.
91fox331
05-15-2009, 02:14 PM
that would be cool. ya im interested in haveing wes dyno tune my car for me. it should be running in a couple of weeks so ill give you a call whenever im ready to bring it up there. is there any insurance if my car blows up on the dyno by tuning it. brad said that he has insurance like that i jus wanted to make sure.

05-20-2009, 10:13 AM
hey call the shop and talk to wes about it. if i was you i would trailor the car up here that way you dont mess any thing up on your way up here trying to drive it with no tune.
91fox331
05-20-2009, 02:34 PM
ya that was the plan. ill give yall a call whenever i get ready to tune it

06-05-2009, 01:00 PM
well i got all of my internals in the other day and thought it was gonna be done really soon but the main bearings are not fitting right so im either going to have to grove my block or get lucky and find a set that will fit my mexican 302 block. my internals are all forged probe 4340 with 20cc deep dish pistons .40 over. im about to order my ignition and axles and that should be all she wrote.
