I absolutely love my BOI smoked headlights. However, they do not put out enough light for me. I drive a pretty often at night, and it's only a matter of time before something like a deer steps out in front of me and I won't be able to see it in time to stop. After tons of research, I've decided I really don't want to just throw HID's into the BOI housings. I've also found that there isn't a decent looking set of projectors on the market today. I've found a guy to make me a custom set of projectors. What do you guys think about them? I'm all about looks, but I gotta have some performance.

LOL, no need to say anything. Despite the wicked car, what do you think about the look of the custom made projectors? The hi beams will suck because the reflector is painted black, but the HID low's are suppose to be way brighter than stock hi beams.

What is the cost difference? I know for me I LOVE my HID's! I've never seen any projectors so I don't know about what kind of light they put off. Those do look good though! Here's a pick of mine. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=35 (http://thestanggangar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=35)

They aren't gonna be cheap, but really that is the right way to do it. I'm probably gonna buy a conversion kit and use in my stock housings (well the BOI's) for now. For the lights I'm looking at $160 + corners + paying to have them modified to get the smoked look. It is suppose to use the factory bulbs and wiring for the high beams, just not sure if that price includes the HID kit for the lows. I can get the HID kit for under $100 with a lifetime warranty, so I'll probably go that route (you know, start at the cheapest option, and I know they'll look good).

Have you thought about trying some Sylvania Silverstars? They're a bit brighter than the regular halogens. I think the bulbs are about $20 a piece.
I also like my HID's, but without the appropriate headlight housings (projector-type), my beam pattern and light output sucks. You wouldn't regret doing a retro-fit and using HID's. The look is killer. Hopefully the guy can give you a killer deal on the custom work. I'da thrown some projector headlights on my ride for better light output, but they all look too ricey for me.

ricey was my thought exactly BUT i passed one Saturday night (on the other side of the freeway) and it looked pretty awesome at night!Have you thought about trying some Sylvania Silverstars? They're a bit brighter than the regular halogens. I think the bulbs are about $20 a piece.

I'm still undecided. The ones I posted are by far the best looking ones I've seen, all others are ricey, as you guys have said. I don't think the ones I'm talking about are, but at the same time I've finally got everything done the way I want it, so I hate to start with new lights again. I've got a HID upgrade in mind, but they'll be in the BOI halogen housings. I'm still considering Silverstars, but I think I have those in there right now (I know they are Sylvania lights).

If your leaning towards the pro's I'd say go for it. With that car I really can't see it looking ricey now. As far as HID's I have the factory housing but the ones I bought came with a power box along with each bulb.
