I've had my low oil light trip twice in the past two weeks. Both times I immediately shut the car off and checked the oil. Both times it was right on the full mark as it should be. I turned the car off to check the oil, then when I turn it back on the light is off. I've never noticed it loosing oil, and I actually did an oil change about a week ago. It done it once before and once after, so I know it's not something I've done. I was just a hair over 3k miles when I changed the oil and it was still perfect, hadn't used any at all. Any ideas? Thanks.

Could just be the sensor going out.

sounds like the sensor maybe going bad, or have a bad connection. Id check the wire on it.

I remember reading about a faulty oil sensor for that same reason on a Ford modular web board. Can't remember what years, but there is a new updated sensor from Ford.

Hmm, is there a way to test the sensor, or just gotta start replacing? I hope that's it an not the engine somehow not getting enough oil.

I would put my money on it being a sensor.

oil pressure switch,i had the same problem on my 97 cobra,i even put a new one on,maybey it was faulty but the new one diddnt work either so i put a mechanical one one it with auto meter guage and it worked??could be a wire rubbed or grounding out.

if I'm not mistaken, your car has a sensor in the oil pan. It is completely seperate from the oil pressure sensor. The oil pressure sensor will not trip the low oil light. The low oil light is an indicator of the oil level in the oil pan. Not the oil pressure. The oil pressure guage will only work the guage on the dash. Next time the "low oil" light comes on, take a look at your oil pressure guage. I'm willing to bet that you will still have oil pressure and that your problem is a faulty oil level sensor in the oil pan. Just buy a new one and replace it.

Haven't had it come back on, but IF it does it again, I'll check the pressure and post back. Thanks a lot!
