View Full Version : Wondering what everyone's 60ft time is?

I just recently took my car to the track for the first time. I am wondering if most of the basic stock 2v cars have a close 60 ft time. Me and joey5.4 carried my car to Monroe, LA this weekend and I ran a 1.84 60ft and some low 13's in the quarter. I think Friday were going to Prescott to run the 1000ft so after a few minor adjustments this week I hope to bump some lucky car off the top ten list LOL

was that on spray or motor when you cut the 1.6's?

On a 245/45/17 street tire with stock suspension i was cutting 1.89 consistently on motor. Ran a 10.99 at 93 in the 1000ft on motor.

Best 60's i could get on stock rubber was 2.0's no matter what rear gear i had.
With M/T street radials,1.7's.

im still running my stock 3.27 gears and i was launching at 3500 on 26x10.50 mickey thompson et streets so i would have to disagree with showtime's times :?: no affence ;) im posting the video of one of my passes on youtube so i hope i will have a link soon

I have a timeslip to prove it. Ive never even had a drag radial on that car. The tires i pulled those times with are still on the car actually. Get em hot, slip the clutch.

Falken Azenis. 200 tread wear. I had to put my car in 2nd and do a burn out for 10 seconds to get them to hook like that at 15psi. If you dont believe me ask ArkansasMystic.

LOL, how do all these threads always seem to come back to me? Hate to say it, but the man speaks the truth. I was a little aggrivated to say the least when I was cutting 2.2's and running 11.9's. I finally got mine down to 2.1 and 11.4 on street tires, but still need some practice. Jake is out at the track nearly every weekend, and you know what they say, practice makes perfect.

Thank you sir. Well ive been racing since i was 15 at the track. Im now 20 so i have a little practice under my belt. Dont worry preston, you will be in those 10's soon enough.

joey5.4 never cut those 60ft times on 245/45/17 nitto 555r at the track im not saying u cant drive but i know he can

lol believe it or not man...cause im sitting here telling you that i have done it. My last 3 runs i made on the car all were with 1.89 60fts on a 245/45 street tire. ArkansasMystic saw me do it. He has seen the tires, he has saw the timeslip. What more proof would you like? You could also ask freshyprinz, he also saw me do it along with about 10 of my other friends.

555r's aren't exactly the best DR out there either. I cut a better 60ft with all season tires than with Nitto 555's. Even the best tires are horrible without track prep. It's possible Jake's run was on a very well prepped track, or right after someone using a good bit of track bite, or a variety of other reasons. However, regardless of anyone's ability to get off the line, the slip doesn't lie.

i beleive u man i just wish i could have been there to watch sounds like ur car was running **** good that day. What mods did ur car have at that time? Where u using vht or any other traction adder at the time?

At the time i had 3.73 gears, 75mm throttle body and plenum, shorty equal length headers, o/r H pipe, and magnaflows. No i didnt use any tire compound that day. The track was just hooking awsome.

at the track the 555R is not as good as on the street. dont know why this is seeing that on the street there is no prep, now the one time my car went to the track we went to prescott and the was ALOT of moisture in the air. But I did run a 555R 305/40 18 on my truck that dynoed 500hp/622ftlbs and the tires done good both street and track, they was only around a tenth and a half better than a regular 555 295/45 18 but none the less better. So I cant really say anything bad about the tires. the 245/45 17 that was on my car, I was spraying a 125 shot with 4.10's with a 5spd out of the hole on the street and would not slip a tire out the hole. I cant remember what they did at prescott, but it sucked but like I said weather was crappy.

Don't get me wrong, 555r's are an excellent tire for what they are (a good street tire because they'll outlast the others and won't screw you over if you get caught in rain like some others). I was just saying that when it comes to the track they're not much better than street tires (as you mentioned). The MT and BFG DR's are much stickier and will get you those low 60fts. It can be done with the 555r's, but it is much easier with the others. If all works out, I'm hoping I can get a set of the 555r's, so I'm definitely not saying they aren't a good tire. I apologize if I came across wrong. All I know is I can't do much talking when a bolt on GT beats my 4v Cobra, so I'll leave it up to you guys who are a little more experienced.

no need to apologize, you must have taken me wrong lol, i wasnt diagreeing with with you or anything, and you right they are by far not the best dr for traction on the track, but I can not complain about them on the street. my car would leave with stuff running decent size REAL slicks, not DOT approved slicks, and the truck I was jumping other trucks out of the hole that were running 28x13.5 hoosiers, and the tread pattern not many people knew i was running sticky tires that what i loved about them. but when I put the bogarts on the truck with a 28x14.5 hoosiers, none of them weiners would even bring their trucks out of the shop lol

yea I would have loved to see you two run either both on street tires or both on slicks. for 2v cars with all the miles yaws cars have you should both be happ cuz I recall seeing both yaw beating a 4v car lol

I can vouch for showtime on that, for one cause the car he has is the car that I sold him and I cut 60ft times like that in it to with a 275/40/17 Riken Raptor, never ran it on 245/45/17, but the car will do it

best I have gotten is a 2.1, I know it can do better I just can't seem to find the sweet spot with that car when I'm launching, I've tried about every rpm and clutch slip technique I know and still can't get a good time out of it, but i've run 11.4 @ 93mph
