So im ready to order a set of headers, i want the power so i've narrowed it to long tube but it seems like the price difference doesnt match the power difference.. for example i want to go with kooks headers because they make the the best power but they are around $900. other competitor prices seem to be cheaper obviously because they make less power, but im just curious if its worth the extra couple of hundred for a couple of horses? should i go with the kooks and spend the money or go with a different brand for less?

I'm not sure if it's the same on your car, but I know on the 96-98 for certain that there is less ground clearance lost with the Kooks versus the others such as BBK and Flowtech. Also, the design of the Kooks allow you to replace the clutch without having to remove the headers. As I said, that's on my car, not sure if it applies to yours. I've not used any of them, so really can't comment on the rest, just wanted to give some food for thought.

Go with some flowtechs. With the HP numbers that you will be making it would be a waste of money to buy a set of $900 headers. I sold stan00gt the flowtech long tubes that he put on his car, ask him how he likes them.

I don't really know about the advantages and disadvantages but I really love the sound of the cars I've heard them on!

yea for the money you cant go wrong with the flowtechs, I helped Stan put them on his car and they are a well built header, not real expensive and they along with a xpipe made a huge difference on his car as far as power, throttle response, and sound. Kooks cant give any more noticable power than the Flowtechs headers. they fit well and stan has lowerd his car since and has no ground clearance issues, this is on a 00 though.

BBK, hands down. They are decent priced and they produce good power!!!

Im not a fan of BBK, a friend of mine had them on his fox and the header blew out and caught an oil line on fire and almost burned down the car while we were in it racing someone doing 120+mph. After that happened ive swore out BBK. Just had a bad experience.

+1. i just dont think that there is any reason to spend $900+ for that little bit more power. its just not worth it to me.

For the money BBK is the way to go. THey fit fairly good and make decent power. If budget isnt a problem then hooker or kooks would be a choice header.

Another factor to consider is the quality of the header also the coating. You have the
choice of stainless or ceramic. Horsepower is great but quality is important.

I'm partial to JBA.
