Here is a few pics of my little project I'm about to start back up on. The car is a 93 LX. The previous owner had intentions of running the car in NMRA SS/O so an all chrome-moly funny car style cage was laid out and tacked together for the original 25.1 spec. I'm currently adding the new bars and the car will cert to 25.2 which equates to 6.00 and 200+ mph in the 1/4, in other words faster then I'll ever go.

The car still has the stock frame rails/floor pan/etc with a mini-tub large enough for a 29.5x10.5W (the previous owners local classes allowed this tire).

Some old pics as I'm working on digging it out of storage and getting it in my shop (I've acquired a lot of parts, read junk, for my cars )

That is most of the cage although I have 2 totes of notched moly to install and a few sticks to bend for the bars that are needed.

The plan is to make the car to where it will go either stock suspension or ladder bar. The ladder bar front mount is already installed, I'm going to go with the S-box for upper and fab up my own lower mounts. The 8.8 is getting out of the way for a 9" I'm building right now.

I'm not sure what motor/trans I'm going to run or if it will be N/A or use a power adder. I would love to run SS/O, but I do not have that kind of a budget so plans are for one of the true ten five or drag radial classes in this region.

Another decision I'm trying to make is to leave it an LX or install the GT pieces I have. To go the GT route I need a driver side front fender extension, so if anyone has one they would sell PM or email me.

Looks to have a ton of potential, look forward to seeing the build progress!

Nice work! Good progress pics. If you think about it, feel free to post some "how-to's" in the how to forum. I'am sure anyone with a fox body or everyone else for that matter could benefit from and would appreciate the tips! 8-)

A 25.2 cage is pretty cool. Gotta love the funny car addition. Did u get a pretty good deal on the car. I know I've looked at a few fox bodies that had a 25.5 cage and the cheapest I could find one for was about 4k. Just build a 408 Windsor with a set of brodix Neal heads, 8:5 compression and a gt47 88mm turbo with a 1.06 a/r housing.

I'm sure I can put something together, when I get that far. Right now is all the time extensive fabrication that many hate, but I enjoy doing, beats sitting on the couch watching tv or yes surfing the net. (something I do way too much)

Yes, I got into this car cheap, less then what the moly would cost. It came from Dallas. This car plus a couple hatch parts cars I have around $1500 total in all of them. One of the hatch cars was a "stripper" manual windows, mirrors, arm rest delete, etc, the only option would have been the sunroof. This car had perfect gray interior that I'm going to use to replace the blue. I have the idea of doing two sets of doors, one with lexan and the other with manual windows so a simple swap can take advantage of rules.

Typically, the cost to have a car 25.5'd is in the $5,500 range. 25.2 can close to 10k if the the car has to keep the stock floor pan for class rules, you either have to cut the entire floor pan out or cut the roof off (what I'm going to do) to get the cage out for final welding. If the car is going to be 1/8th mile only, I'd just go with a moly 25.5 cage as it can be updated later and is good to 4.50 1/8th IIRC.

We are kinda thinking about using one of the three aluminum 4.6 blocks and a set of 4 valve heads we have with a 106 on methanol. But that is this week, it might be a 707 BBF next week, and a n/a smallblock the week after that.

I have been able to get the junk out of the way to get the car out of storage. I plan to move it into the shop next week then the fun/work can begin!

I'll have to post up the 4" cowl hood I bought for it. You guys know the "bargains galore on 64" thing? I was driving up 64 last year, having completely forgot it was going on and getting irritated at the people coming to a dead stop on the road when I noticed this hood leaning against a road sign with "Yard Sale and an arrow" painted on it. I thought it looked like a fox hood, did the whole double take deal, then circled back. I asked about it and had to agree to allow them to use it until it was over Sunday, I purchased it for $5.

Haha $5 for any hood is a steal. I've thought about ditching the small block and going with a BBF myself. I already know that nobody will believe me on this, but you can take a stock block 460, put spliced 4 bolt main caps in it and run a stock crank and it can handle 1800 hp at the flywheel. Of course u would need a massive turbo or some sort of forced induction to make that power, but it can be done
