Ok I'm going to try to post some pic's, the first one is the very first pic I got during disassembly. To give you an idea it had a set of 17" Cobra R knock off's.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/CIMG0020.jpg

Below is the engine before I pulled it. It was a stock bottom end 302 with cam, springs, rockers, long tube headers, Edelbrock Rpm manifold, and a Pro-M 77mm mass air kit. With this I was able to go 13.62 @103mph, at Memphis.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/CIMG0022.jpg

This was after I pulled the rear and trans. Super dirty!

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/CIMG0042.jpg

This was after I pulled it. It's alot cleaner and more bare now.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/CIMG0017.jpg

This was after the engine, trans, and rear was pulled. Did a mild clean up, and had the new rear setting under it.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/CIMG0457.jpg

I had started collecting parts, here's the new brakes.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/CIMG0064.jpg

This is the rear pic with the new control arms and brakes. I also have a torque arm I'm going to install, but I'm waiting on money for the pan hard bar.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/IMG00541.jpg

This is the front pic with the new brakes and bump stop kit. I'm planning to put a coil over set, but I already had the Eibach Pro Kit, so I'm cheaping out.

This is the rear with the new brakes and wheels.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/Backwheel.jpg

This is the side view once I got it on the ground. I've got the front end off and getting ready to remove the front fenders to do clean up and paint on the engine bay.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/Frontofthecar.jpg

This is the rear since I got it setting on the ground.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/Backofthecar-1.jpg

This is the last pic I've taking so far, it's basically the car loaded up. I'm moving it to a buddies shop. That's where my engine and some of my other stuff is.

Thanks ya'll. This stupid project is based on, "As money comes in.". Lmao!
This all started when I destroyed the clutch. At the time I was having a new rear end built. So, while I was replacing the clutch I decided to change it over to five lug. Then, I thought to myself and said, "****, while I'm here I might as well pull the motor and kinda restore this ole girl". Which, lead to the thought's of awesome brakes, a kick *** motor, and a great looking car.

To give you an idea............the car still has 2006 tags..........

So, I'm praying enough fundige comes in to maybe get this thing going this year.

Good start on what will be a freaking sweet street car.....whats the plans for the power plant?.....427 SBF?....high strung 306 with 4.56 gears?

Blackjack
07-20-2009, 05:15 PM
Well, the plan started out as a N/A 408 windsor. Then, my brother just got his car finished and it's a single turbo 8.200 deck small block. WOW is all I can say. So for the time being, I'm building a 333ci stock block 302. I've got a set of RHS 200 aluminum heads, it'l be about 9.1 to 9.5 compression, a solid roller cam, Systemax upper and lower manifold, and a F.A.S.T. system. I'm going to run it N/A, tell I can afford the turbo parts to put the system together, then change the cam and a few other thing and go for a single turbo small block.

Looking good Blackjack. I like the F500s. Is that the full Baer kit? It is nice to have the space you have to work on it. I know, since mine is in the similar process, but I still have it all apart. Probably 40% of my car is stored in my attic right now, boxed and labeled.

Looking at your post reminds me I need to update my project picts. Keep up the good work!

backfocus
07-20-2009, 05:21 PM
With a 331 and a turbo later, you will be on borrow time with that stock block. Look into saving up for the nw SHP Dart and Iron Eagle block for later down the road. Not saying it can't be done, just to far past the red line district on the block, for me.

Blackjack
07-20-2009, 05:28 PM
Thanks Backfocus, yes it's a complete Baer kit. Yeah I did have a ton of room to work on it, however, I just moved it to a buddies shop. It's a little more cramped, but he's got a lot more tools. I moved it from my parents, because we own and operate a honey farm. So, it's getting close for us to pull honey then will need the room to barrel and store it. So, my Dad's been riding my *** to get it out. Plus, they live down a 2 to 2 1/2 mile gravel road, which got old real quick. I was glad to move it.

stumbaugh
07-20-2009, 05:45 PM
Build a Windsor. A stock Windsor block will handle over 800 hp. Just do a 408 with 9:1 compression, and a 76mm. It would be an awsome street car along with the fast setup

Blackjack
07-20-2009, 07:16 PM
Yeah, that's the plan. I'm just trying to put the thing together now to get out and play some. I freaking miss the car something aweful! I'm just using the stock block tell I get the money for the new block.

This is the newest addition. I pick up the second one this weekend.

They're T03's off of like a T-bird. They've got a .60AR compressor housing. I didn't see anything, but there suppose to be a .63AR inducer. I'm getting the other this weekend, and I'm working on getting them apart and getting v-band's set up for the down pipes instead of the 90 degree ball socket. After my brother got his rolling and I rode in it.......... :o I had to have it!

Ok, got some more done this weekend.

First mic-ed the crank.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/Crank.jpg

Then dial bored the mains, and after moving around a few bearings here and there got what we were looking for.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/Mains.jpg

Then to filing the rings. Back view and a front view.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/RingsGapped.jpg

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/Frontoftheblock.jpg

Then we ran into a problem with the rod bearings checking to loose, so had to stop on the block, order some different bearing, so I finished the heads.

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/Bothheads.jpg

http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu138/90Blackjack/CompleteHead.jpg

By the way, I ran into another problem with the turbos. Turns out one of them had a .63 ar exhaust housing (Which is what I need), and the other is a .48 ar. To small, so I located two more from a buddy. Which of those one is a .63 ar, and the other is a .48 ar. So some swapping around and I'll have what I need.

That is cool.My 1st hot rod was a '79 F-100 Custom Explorer. My folks bought it brand new in the summer of '79,then when i turned 16/17,they gave it to me.Was a little rough on the edges from construction, but it was worth it LOL!!She is now gone.... :(

Well, I'm not a 100% sure. I'm shooting for hopefully towards the end of the year, maybe the beginning of next. I've still got a good bit to get. My brother and I got all the clearances lined out tonight, the crank in, and one of the pistons in. However, the ring compressor we we're using is a pile of crap. just as a suggestion, pour some oil in the lifter valley and let it set for a while. then wipe it out and make sure the paint sticks. dad done one like this and after a day of oil on it the paint started peeling off.

Blackjack
08-29-2009, 03:41 PM
I might try that, hopefully it won't be a problem. I didn't paint it ;) . Steve Heath and Battery Parts Warehouse in Jonesboro did it. The only way to have it done, because when he painted it, it was fresh out of the hot tank. No oil or anything to keep the paint from sticking. He painted my brothers block and it still looks awesome.

Ya twins are pretty cool, but it's alot more expensive than a single set up. 2 blow off valves, 2 waste gates, 2 times as much piping, 2 oil lines ect ect ect. Just go one single 67mm or 70mm at the most. A freind of mine has a 93 true cobra with a stock short block with trickflow heads and a 62mm and at 10psi it made 437rwhp on pump gas and VERY safe tune. The tune was actually strickly for fuel mileage.

Blackjack
11-10-2009, 09:41 AM
I've actually got a good bit of the parts to do the twin set up, but I also think it'd be alot less busy and compacted under the hood.

Go with at least a 76mm anything less would be a joke and only leave you wishing for a bigger turbo.

I don't see how it would be a joke to run a 67 or 70. Spool up more quickly, and will easily produce plenty of power to destroy that stock block. Black Jack, Get on www.theturboforums.com, and do some research on there. If you are building a turbo car u need to join the site.

Well, I'm probably going to get the hand down from my brother. Which his is a 67mm, which we'll be more then plenty. Remember, this will be on 18 inch street tires. Lol!

Not only that, but if you will do the proper research, people are making over 600rwhp with a 62mm!!! And I know a guy that was making like 700rwhp. The number one problem when building turbo cars is getting to big of a turbo. You will love that 67mm

Yeah Jake, I'm a member of turbo mustangs too! Forgot to tell you that. It screams on my brothers car, plus if I use the for what I want (driving touring etc.) and keep my foot out of it, it should get pretty decent mileage.

Blackjack, you are on the right track with the turbo, in my opinion. Not sure if you remember or not, but I am going turbo as well. The 67 will be a good combo for your motor, the cam will also be a key, I don't remember what you are using for that. I suggest a custom cam from FTI, or someone else with a good rep.

I am also a member of the turbo forums.

How is the quaility of the baer brakes? I'm debating on getting the kit myself for my foxbody. If you don't mind me asking, how much was that complete kit?

Man the quality is top notch. Wouldn't go any other way. I had a cheap 4 lug disc conversion from SSBC before, and let me say I wasn't very impressed.

As far as price, it's kinda hard to say. I actually got lucky and found the front rotors on ebay! Lol! And if you don't know the front calipers are the two piston cobra style caliper, and the rear calipers are from an 93-97 LT1 F-body car.

I pretty much pieced my kit together over time, but if I had to guess I'd say between $1200 to $1500 is what I've got in it all together.

Hope that helps.

Great build! Keep up the great work. 67mm turbos are ideal for street use in my opinion. I have a buddy in N.M. with a 67 on a 347 running consistent 9.98's. The potential is deffinantely there with that turbo to make 500+rwhp.
