I have a buddy of mine that did and it looked practially brand new when he was done! He used that Bleache white spray. He said he covered up the appropriate parts and sprayed it on there, rinsed it off, then did it again and it was CLEAN!

I detail mine at least once a month. I soak it good with some degreaser and then spray it off. Coat it with Meguiars Hot Tire Shine for a final touch. You really have to stay on top of it or it gets to be really hard to get to clean.

Yup, what Oxman said. Piece of advice though, from experience don't leave the Bleach White on for a long time. That is some powerful stuff, just spray it on, scrub (if your going to scrub), and spray that stuff off with water in a matter of minutes.

sweet, well i'm still fairly new to these modular fords and the engine compartment, i miss my old 69 and all the mechanical parts but what are the key components on the engine that needs to be covered or avoided from getting wet/soaked?

Nothing......I take mine to the car wash and blow the heck out of it. Never had a problem.

I did the same with mine. Anything that could get harmed if it got wet is covered up from factory.

Never ever use bleach white....its way to strong. Use a 50/50 mix of water and simple green.
Never apply on a hot motor.
Spary it on there there let it sit for 5 mins...rinse it off.....start the car and let it heat up and dry off. let it cool a bit then i apply f21 from turtle wax. If you like the super shiny look the nleave it alone after the first application. If you like the matte looks....then take a lint free towel and whipe down all the parts for the matte look!

Ya i went out and bought the simple green cause i've also read in a few other other forums of people using that more than anything else and also bought the F21. But i also read people will cover up their alternators, air filters and black fuse box, but i was mostly concerned about the alternator and water getting into spark plug holes.

I detail mine everytime I wash the car. It still looks showroom new. I use Turtlewax F-21 Protectant. I just spray it on a microfiber towel and wipe all the plastic and rubber down. Takes about 10 min.

I always used purple power and tire foam. Kept mine pretty clean.

I used Greased Lightning and finished it with Griot's Garage Engine Dressing for the last couple of shows I was in. They worked great.
